UH North Ridgeville Health Center

North Ridgeville, Ohio

Kelly Parker

While not the largest project to cite, this was a very unique and fun experience. Live Nations desire was to air condition the pavilion (stage) as well as replace the controls and VAV system in the Administration building. Being an open, outdoor venue this presented some major challenges. Aside from the obvious being outdoors, two added caveats were added to the scope. First, it had to be dead silent with no equipment or air noise on stage and the space needed to be zoned so the string section could have a different temperature than the percussion section in the rear. Initial project budget was more than $ 1,400,000 and far above the Orchestras allowance.

Working with Westlake, Reed Engineering staff and Live Nation, T.H. Martin took the lead in revising equipment selection into modular units and placed 6 new AHU’s 75’ below the stage in the mechanical pit. A new cooling tower was placed 500 yards away and set back in the wooded area behind the stage. New underground Aquatherm piping was used to feed the air handlers. Old supply shafts became new returns, and new distribution was added to both front of stage and rear areas with separate controls and dedicated AHU’s. Final contract amount was $ 998,000 providing a savings of close to 28%

This system proved trouble free and has run flawlessly for over 7 years while exceeding all expectations.
